Liam’s Story

Hello, My Name is Liam and the impact that Christie Lake Kids has had on my life has been profound and life changing.

When I was six, my mom took my brother and me to a shelter near Bayshore to live for a while. This was very hard for me, not knowing or realizing why I couldn’t see my dad anymore. I was sharing a room the size of a bathroom with my mom and brother, and it was a very hard time for me, made me very angry, and I didn’t know how to deal with what had happened to us.As luck should have it, when I was struggling the most, my brother and I were introduced to Christie Lake Kids and I was able to join the STAR Karate Program.

Letitia’s Story

My name is Letitia, I am fourteen years old and Christie Lake kids (CLK) has been in my life since I was 12. My mom is a single mother raising 3 daughters on her own without support, she deals with depression, physical health issues and everyday life struggles (and I love her for all of these things). Before Christie Lake Kids, my sisters and I felt that we were not included in activities, we were getting bullied, we couldn’t make friends, and we found it difficult to socialize with anyone. Finally, someone mentioned Christie Lake Kids and our lives changed, we were finally able to attend weekly programs where we felt included and I was finally successful at something!
