Bad Posture = Unhealthy Brain
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word ‘posture?’
Let me guess… Its your mom or grandma telling you to ‘stand up straight’ or ‘mind your posture!’
For me, its definitely my mom… ‘shoulders back, eyes up!’ she used to say – and it drove me crazy!
You probably know that posture is important… but why is it so important? And for that matter, how do you know if you have good posture or not?
How To Fix Your Bad Posture?
Good posture is so much more than standing up straight and pulling your shoulders back. When you have good posture (head, rib cage, and pelvis perfectly balanced upon one another in both the front and side views) your body is able to move and function as its designed to – with ease.
The logic is surprisingly simple: The primary function of your spine is to provide a flexible, functional structure that acts like armor to protect the vital wires (nerves) that run inside. These nerves literally carry all the messages from your brain and transmit them out to the body and then carry the vital feedback from the body back up to your brain – at a rate of billions of signals per second.
When there is distortion in this critical structure the wires inside become irritated and this can disrupt the way they communicate. While this process is often silent (you don’t feel it directly) it often leads to secondary problems like headaches, neck pain, back pain, poor mobility, impaired energy, poor digestion and disrupted sleep to name a few.
One of the most common forms of structural distortion we see is what’s called Anterior Spinal Distortion… This is when the head juts forward when it’s really meant to be stacked over top the shoulders.
