Summer is finally here, and for me it means BBQ season! One of the cuts of meat we usually get from the farm is beef flank steak. Beef tenderloin is the most tender cut of meat you can get, but it’s pretty ‘plain’ in terms of flavours. And, who said that steak can’t be tender anyways?! Flank steak is one of the tastier cut of meat you can get, you just have to know how to season it and cook it properly so it stays tender. Try it next time you do BBQ, and let me know how you like it!
Tools
- Knife
Ingredients
- 1 Beef Flank Steak (it usually comes whole, folded in the package)
Salt & pepper to taste (and/or BBQ seasoning)
1. Put the whole piece of meat on a cutting board.
2. Using a sharpened knife, score the meat against the grain (meaning along the opposite side of the meat fibres) on both sides. Be careful to not cut the meat all the way through, only on the surface. This will allow the steak to stay flat and to ensure uniform cooking of the meat.
