Tools
- 1 deep dish safe for the oven
- Mixing bowls
Ingredients
- 6-8 apples peeled, cored and cut in small pieces
- 1 ½ tsp of cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tbsp of maple syrup
For The Crumble
- 1 cup of almond flour
- ¼ cup of butter, at room temperature (¼ cup of coconut oil for a dairy free option)
- ½ cup of pecans, cut in small pieces
- ½ cup of almonds, cut in small pieces
- ½ tsp of vanilla extract
- ½ tbsp. of maple syrup
1. Preheat oven at 350˚F.
2. Peel, core and cut the apples in small pieces.
3. Add the cinnamon and maple syrup to the apples, mix well, and put the apples in a deep dish safe for the oven.
4. Using your hands or a fork, mix all the ingredients for the crumble. Unlike traditional crumble, it will have the consistency of dough.
5. Sprinkle the dough over the apples, making sure the top is all covered (don’t be shy to divide the dough in small chunks).
6. Put the dish uncovered in the oven and bake at 350˚F for 45-60 minutes (or until the apples are soft).
7. Let the crisp cool down, and serve warm with ice cream.
More Tips
- Add orange juice to the apples for extra flavour.
- You can substitute any nuts you like for the crumble.
